    Community and Health Services Centres offer a range of services for local residents depending on their individual health care needs provided by friendly, professional people.

    While there is some variation between centres, all provide:

    • Home-based nursing
    • Help with household tasks and personal care
    • Home maintenance
    • Health assessments and referrals to other health and community services.

    Your Community and Health Services Centre has experienced approachable staff who work closely with other health services such as hospitals and medical practices, staff may be able to assist you with other health care advice and community services that are provided locally or at a major centre nearby.

    Service Eligibility

    Inquiries are welcome from any residents seeking assistance. Family members, friends, and other health care providers such as general practitioners are also able to provide referrals to these services, with their client’s permission.

    Cost Information

    There is a charge for home nursing, home help, and home maintenance services provided by your local Community and Health Services Centre. However, it will vary, depending on individual circumstances. The cost will be discussed with you during your assessment visit.

    If you (or your family member or friend) are unable to pay or have difficulty affording the full amount, this can be discussed further. If you are eligible, you will still receive these services regardless of your ability to pay.

    The Centre provides the Devonport Community with access to quality and confidential services.
    A wide range of community services, visiting services, clinics and support groups operate from the Centre such as Community Nursing, Drug and Alcohol Services, Diabetes Education, Continence Advisor, Dental Clinic and Sexual Health Clinic.

    The Burnie Community Health Centre provides residents with the opportunity to access quality health and community services. There are several Community Services, Visiting Services and Support Groups that operate from the centre.

    Rosebery Community Health Centre

    Rosebery

    The Community Health Centre coordinates the delivery of services such as Community Nursing, an Accident and Emergency Service, a visiting diabetic clinic, a needle exchange program and other support programs.

    Community Health Centre – Wynyard

    James Muir – Wynyard

    The James Muir Community Health Centre provides the Wynyard Community with the opportunity to access quality health and community services.

    There are several Services Including Oral Health and Child Health Services. The Centre has a wide range of information available in the reception area.

    Community Health Centre – Ulverstone

    The Ulverstone Community Health Centre provides residents with access to quality and confidential services. A wide range of community services, visiting services, clinics and support groups operate from the centre such as Palliative Care, Continence Advisor, Family and Child Health Clinics and Dementia Care Support Service.

    West Coast District Hospital at Queenstown

    Queenstown – West Coast District

    Please note visiting hours are 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm at this location only.

    For specific information about a public hospital, patient visitation go to the Tasmanian Government coronavirus website at https://www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/families-community/public-hospital-patient-visitation

    The West Coast Hospital provides Queenstown and surrounding communities with access to quality health services including Accident and Emergency, an Aged Care Residential facility and Visiting Services such as Radiology, Diabetic Clinic, Physiotherapy and Podiatry. A range of community services is also provided from the hospital including Community Nursing, Home Help/Personal Care and Home Maintenance.

    King Island District Hospital and Health Centre

    King Island District – Hospital and Health Centre

    Important Note to Visitors

    A COVID-19 Visitor Policy has been developed for Tasmania’s Public Hospitals and Clinics. The Policy places some restrictions on who can visit and when they can visit, as well as measures all visitors should apply to reduce the risk of COVID-19 being passed on to patients in the hospital.

    The King Island Multi-Purpose Centre operates as a multipurpose centre with six acute care beds, eight high care and six low care residential aged care beds.

    The centre also coordinates the delivery of a broad range of community services, visiting services and support groups such as community nursing, child health, dental services, ante-natal clinics and alcohol and drug services.

    Hospital and Accident and Emergency Services operate 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
    Other services operate Monday to Friday between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm.
